Le Maire D\u00e9sir\u00e9 Soussirac apprend qu\u2019un nouveau ruisseau encercle la commune de Reyni\u00e8s. Par l\u2019interm\u00e9diaire du garde champ\u00eatre, \u00ab le Parouquet \u00bb il fait pr\u00e9venir ses administr\u00e9s afin qu\u2019ils \u00e9vacuent le village. Cependant, \u00e9tant dans ces ann\u00e9es folles o\u00f9 bals et guinguettes rythmaient la vie des jeunes gens, les jeunes Reyni\u00e9siens sont tous \u00e0 leur bal de carnaval et rient au nez du garde champ\u00eatre alarmiste. En fait de ruisseau il s\u2019agissait de tout un r\u00e9seau de vieux bras en sommeil du Tarn, qui en crue allait devenir tentaculaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est ainsi que les 3 et 4 mars 1930, la catastrophe s\u2019abat sur Reyni\u00e8s. Le 3 au matin, le pic de la crue est atteint, le Tarn est sorti de son lit avec pr\u00e8s de 12 m\u00e8tres 20 de hauteur. Les maisons construites en briques crues ne r\u00e9sistent pas au tumulte des flots, elles sont emport\u00e9es ou s\u2019effondrent sur elles m\u00eame. Ceux qui fuient pour gagner les coteaux, s\u2019en voient emp\u00each\u00e9s par ce bras de rivi\u00e8re qui n\u2019\u00e9tait qu\u2019un ruisseau la veille. L\u2019unique moyen d\u2019\u00e9chapper \u00e0 la col\u00e8re du Tarn est de le traverser par le pont ou de se r\u00e9fugier dans la cour du ch\u00e2teau, qui elle, demeure hors
